  1. American Flags on Graves - Memorial Day & Veterans Day

    Grave site flags for Memorial Day and Veterans Day come off the morning after the event, These flags are donated and held by the Cemetery until the next event.

    -Generally flag rules states they should not be left out over night but for Memorial and Veterans Day an exception is made.

  1. Are there minimum requirements as to how many volunteers or is it as many as possible?

    We welcome everyone, It's our way to paying respect to the Veterans buried at the Cemetery.

  1. Do the Patriot Guard Riders host this event?

    This is an event through the Horton Wreath Society of which The Patriot Guard Riders, Tidewater Tidal WAVES Unit 152, American Legion and The Civil Air Patrol and many other Fraternal Organizations are part of.

  1. How long after the Annual Wreath Laying Event will the Wreaths remain on the graves at the Albert G Horton Jr Veterans Memorial Cemetery?

    They remain on the grave through January 1st. There are wreaths laid aside so any burials after the Event up to January 1st, will have a Wreath laid at their gravesite.

  2. My cousins Dad is laid to rest at the Albert G Horton Jr Veteran's Memorial Cemetery and would like us to lay his wreath since she is in Germany and unable to be home for the holidays, is this possible?

    Yes, just show up for the earlier event for family members and loved ones who have family or friends buried at the Cemetery.

  3. How much do the wreaths cost, I don't know if I can afford it?

    There is no cost to obtain a wreath to lay at a family members or loved ones gravesite. We work all year long raising funds for our annual event

    in December and accept donations all year long. Donations are taken in any amount from .50 and upwards.

  1. Do you take donations via credit card over the phone? Or is it only by check?

    We accept cash and checks, because our bylaws state that 100% of our donations go to the purchase of the Live Wreaths,

    We would be unable to pay the fees for accepting credit cards.

Event Participation

  1. Can anyone come to the event? I have 3 girls scouts, and their troops will not be going but I would like them to participate?

    Every one is welcome, this is a family event and the one of Horton Wreaths Society is educate our youth about honor and our veterans.

Donation Levels

  1. What are the donation levels for Horton Wreath Society?

    We welcome all donations, year round but to be acknowledged in the program or on the website, the following levels are:

    Diamond Contributors $5,000 and above

    Sapphire Contributors  $2,500 to $ 4,999

    Emerald Contributors $1,000 to $ 2,499

    Platinum Contributors $ 750 to $ 999

     Gold Contributors $ 500 to $ 749

     Silver Contributors $ 250 to $ 499
